RATES ANALYST I

Performs intermediate level of accounting activities; analyzes and prepares studies and reports related to finance, accounting, and taxation and/or billing.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Analyze and/or prepare information for reports, exhibits, and recommendations related to rate cases, legislative pronouncements, regulatory tariffs and orders, finance, accounting, taxation, and/or billing related issues.
Perform calculations and/or analysis including but not limited to:
Cost of service studies
Assist in development of applicable computer programs used in rates, finance, customer billing, and various accounting activities.
Compile, verify, and/or prepare financial information including but not limited to:
Exhibits for rate cases and regulatory filings
Cost of service studies
Peer company rate comparisons
Tariff applications within the billing process
Compile information for governmental and/or regulatory agencies, management, project teams, customers, and others relative to regulatory reporting, accounting processes, and various financial reports.
Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or other related discipline with specific job‑related experience as follows:
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting methods and practices.
Application of math, advanced algebra, and statistics.
Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software.
Demonstrated ability and/or training related to:
Research company and industry activity and conduct various studies
Analyze, evaluate, and prepare management reports
Prepare correspondence concerning impact of standards, regulations, and legislation on company operating income, finances, accounting processes, and market position
Developing rate schedules
Experience reading and interpreting internal and external correspondence, governmental regulations, reports, financial reports, accounting and tax-related publications, contracts, manuals, and computer printouts.
Experience interacting and communicating effectively.
Experience developing and presenting information to management, individuals, and groups.
Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.
Communicate and/or exchange written and verbal information or instructions; conduct oral presentations.

Mobility to travel in and around office facilities both in-state and out-of-state
Ability to operate tools and equipment required
